Tehuana - Traditional Dress Wooden Magnet

This hand-painted wooden magnet is based on the regional dress style known as "Tehuana" a city at the center of Zapotec culture in the southeast of Oaxaca. 

Frida Kahlo was a huge admirer of the Tehuana style. The Zapotec culture had a strong matriarchal influence, which is probably why Frida Kahlo felt solidarity with them and adopted their dress as can be seen in many of her paintings and photos.
